I have an Aprilia Pegaso 650 strada and I am planning a large trip on it but have two main issues.
Firstly, tyre choice. I would have liked dual purpose tyres for those fantastic Mongolian roads but I can't seem to find the right sizes, front- 110/70 R17 and rear- 160/60 R17. In the manual it mentions "as an alternative" and gives front- 120/65 R17 and rear- 150/60 R17. has anyone got any advice or know of a dual purpose tyre in either sizes.
Secondly, punctures. I'm currently running on the Pegasos standard tyre of Pirelli Diablos, they're tubeless and whats the crack if I get a puncture in the middle of the Gobi desert? Can I physically remove the tyres at a rim size of 17inch with only tyre levers or is it an imposibility? Also is the alloy that the wheel is made from strong enough to take the pressure put upon it with a tyre lever? This line of question then runs onto will removing the tyre damage it and can you just slip a tube inside a tubeless tyre with no probs?
Many thanks for any help or advise.
